Bellingham Birth Photography
Labor and birth photography is quite possibly one of my favorite things to photograph! It gets me in all the feels to capture a pregnancy and to witness (and capture!!) the birth! Karlyn and Kevin (who are amazing photographers, as well!!) welcomed their second child last week, and it was amazing! Another amazing thing to witness is the love and partnership these two have for each other! Aaron and I witness vows all.the.time! No – they never get old! They still make me tear up (have you met me?! C’mon!). Witnessing an intimate moment where Karlyn relied on Kevin for encouragement/strength/hand to hold was hands down amazing! This family of four is going to be juuuuust fine with these two at the lead! Their newest little daughter is one lucky lady to have such amazing parents – and a big brother! Thanks K&K for having me!!!! Karlyn – you’re amazing!! Enjoy!
Bellingham Birth Photography | Baby Escher’s Home Birth
Wow. Juuuuuuust wow. The woman’s body is so amazing. I am amazed at how much strength, courage, trust, patience and all out awesomeness that women have to be able to give birth at home! I arrived at Merrilee and Jason’s house around 8:30am on Monday morning. Their two older boys were playing in the next room; normal boy things like Lego’s and a game I need to ask Jason about – something about basic programming for kids:) I love young minds! Merrilee’s doula (Jen, Natural Blessings Doula Services) and midwife (Eloisa, Gentle Hands Midwifery) and midwife apprentice, Hailey, were there.
Jason and Jen were both coaching her through her contractions. Deep roars were coming from my friend. “You can do this! Nice, low breaths.” What a support system!!! I have mentioned before that birth photography is one of the most emotional and most difficult events to photograph for me. And I’m a crier. But I recently heard from a good friend that when you want to cry, it’s God. He’s pulling on you to be in the moment and realize what’s going on, and that’s ok. I am so thankful I’m able to cry and photograph at the same time! Tears of joy and overall pride for this woman birthing a new life! I’m going to fill this part in with Merrilee’s birth story – once she writes it! I’ll tell my version with the images below!
Merrilee – you are such a strong woman! You are caring, compassionate and such an amazing mom!! I can’t wait to see how sweet Escher grow’s to be the perfect finale to your family! Thank you for allowing me to document his birth! It was truly an honor!! Love, Meg
